Research

During the academic year, BCMB students participate in campus laboratories with ÁùºÏ±¦¿â professors in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, in regional laboratories (Pioneer, Des Moines University), and in summer research at national research institutions.

Topics vary widely and include virology, cell-wall structure-function, hemorrhagic shock, plant genetic engineering, and organic synthesis of bio-mimicking molecules. We have a hands-on philosophy so our students are actively engaged in the research learning wet-lab and instrumental techniques as well as teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in their research experiences. Many students are authors on professional presentations and publications.
