Dr. Curt M. Cardwell Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of Dr. Curt M. Cardwell, History department faculty member from 2005 to 2021, students may apply to seek funding for digitized archival sources.  See Dr. Curt M. Cardwell Memorial Scholarship Fund for details.

Student-Led Group

Phi Alpha Theta: The national honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. The society has over 400,000 members. Our department has an active local chapter and all students interested in history are welcome to participate.

Organizations of Interest at ÁùºÏ±¦¿â

ÁùºÏ±¦¿â Social Science Journal: A student-edited, web-published journal that features student essays and research papers in the social sciences. A number of History students have had papers published in this journal.

Organizations of Interest Beyond ÁùºÏ±¦¿â

: An annual conference at the University of Nebraska at Omaha which accepts student presentations on Phi Alpha Theta sponsored panels. Submission deadline is usually in November.  ÁùºÏ±¦¿â students presented here in 2018 and 2019.

: An annual conference that rotates between Simpson College and Wartburg College.  Submission deadline is usually at the beginning of October. ÁùºÏ±¦¿â students presented here in 2018.

: A student-run journal published once a semester, which accepts a wide range of submissions.

: An undergraduate journal that publishes historically based research.

National Organizations of Interest

: The AHA is the largest professional organization in the United States devoted to the study and promotion of history and historical thinking

: The mission of the OAH is to promote excellence in the scholarship, teaching, and presentation of American history and to encourage wide discussion of historical questions and the equitable treatment of all practitioners of history.

: The No. 1 source of news, information, and jobs for college and university faculty members and administrators.  Based in Washington, D.C., The Chronicle has more than 70 writers, editors, and international correspondents.
